There are many people that believe that same sex relationships should not be entitled to any form of legal recognition. In fact, many people believe that same sex couples should not be entitled to any rights that would result from their relationship if they were a married opposite couple. 

There are many arguments against gay marriage and many people that oppose gay marriage on the basis that marriage is suppose to be a unique relationship between a man and a woman. In addition, many people argue that the point of marriage, is to procreate. 

In fact, many people argue that legal recognition of same sex relationships, defies the sanctity of marriage. The gay marriage debate is likely to continue for some time. In fact, arguments against gay marriage continue to expand and members of the LGBT community are denied equal rights on a regular basis.

Many people believe that the sanctity marriage is in jeopardy when same sex couples acquire legal recognition of their relationship. In fact, many people fear that the institution of marriage, itself is in jeopardy. In addition,many people believe that the point of marriage is to procreate. Many people involved in the gay marriage debate, attest to the fact that same sex couples are unable to do so without medical intervention. 

This brings issues of gay adoption and gay surrogacy into the gay marriage debate. Arguments against gay marriage include questions as to the appropriateness of gay parenting. In fact, many people involved in the gay marriage debate have arguments against gay marriage based on their belief that gay couples could begin families through adoption or a surrogate mother. 

Many people feel that the psychological implications of being raised by same sex parents, are dangerous and of no benefit to society. In fact, people argue that gay parenting is detrimental to children and to society as a whole. In essence, many fear that by allowing some gay rights, they must then allow equal rights on every front, including the right to have a family.

As the gay marriage debate continues in the legal front, it also continues in homes, schools and churches. Arguments against gay marriage may be based on discrimination, but the opposition does not see it that way. The opposition claims that they are simply trying to preserve the sanctity of marriage for the betterment of society.

In fact, many people that oppose gay marriage, domestic partnerships and civil unions, argue that same sex relationship are a detriment to society by their very nature. Those arguments may have no basis in fact, but many people continue to oppose gay rights.
